The distinctive cloaks and bonnets of the handmaids have been hard to miss around Toronto since production began on Season 1 of the Margaret Atwood adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale - the production has traveled extensively around the city, making use of highly recognizable buildings, streets, businesses, and even TTC stations on a regular basis.
Filming on the Lakeshore Grounds
The Handmaid’s Tale is one of the few productions to use the Grounds as its original purpose: a hospital. In the scene, June (played by Elisabeth Moss) exits the west doors of the G Cottage extension, and walks out towards the courtyard. She stops for a brief moment as rain falls on her. She heads back inside moments later.
